Linux can't find myself issue

If on the signon screen or the about screen, you see something like this:

Program: a directory that is _not_ the directory of where you put e.
It might show something like: "~/d/tse/e"

Note: I'm not concerned with the "ui:" line for now - only the "Program:" line.

Please let me know which Linux version you are using, and if you are
so inclined, please:

Download https://semware.com/files/tse-pro-install/findus
and run it, and share the output with me, or, download:

https://semware.com/files/tse-pro-install/findus.c
and compile it:
gcc -m32 -o findus findus.c
and run it, and share the output with me.
