I am not looking for bugs, I am just having a streak running into them it seems.
I do not have a directory "macNotExist".
When I open the file "macNotExist\adjust.s" it succeeds, and opens an empty file.
This new behavior starts in TSE 4.50 RC 19, dated 9 Mar 2024.
Earlier versions return a "Warning":
"Directory not found: <LoadDir()>\macNotExist\adjust.s"
The
read.me for TSE 4.50 RC 19 among other things states:
Work on how "files that TSE cannot open" are handled. Not
perfect, but better than it was. Thanks to Carlo Hogeveen for
the suggestion.
I have checked my sent emails between TSE 4.50 RC 18 and TSE 4.50 RC 19.
A thread that stands out to me starts on 8 Feb 2024 with the title "Memory abort when opening "-a -s c:\winnt.h".
And an email on 21 Feb 2024 with the title "g32 -a -s ..." crash - WAS: [TSE] TSE 4.50 RC 18".
None of these emails express a wish to open non-existing directories, so I think the new behavior is a bug.
