FAME SCHOOL — CALL FOR PARTICIPATION — https://fame-school.github.io/

September 30 – October 2, 2026. University of Malaga, Spain (co-located with MODELS)

Application deadline: June 19th, AoE.

Over the past decades, software engineering has reached a level of maturity that requires an ever-greater use of modelling. For over two decades, the MODELS conference has served as the premier venue for the exchange of innovative technical ideas and experiences relating to the use of model-based approaches in the development of complex software systems. During this time, many of its keynote speakers have highlighted the critical role of education in expanding the use of models in software development.

The School on Foundations and Advances of Model-Based Engineering (FAME) aims to provide a comprehensive understanding of the body of knowledge that underpins software and systems modelling. FAME, organized in conjunction with the MODELS conference, offers its participants a set of carefully selected lectures on various aspects of software modelling.

The objective is to provide each attendee with sufficient information to understand the foundational principles and current challenges in the use of modelling and modelling languages, and to gain a clear picture of the most recent advances in the field.

This school is targeted at Master’s and PhD students, postdocs, lecturers, academics, and industry professionals who are interested in the above topics.

Designed to advance both your technical expertise and professional journey, the schedule is structured around three key pillars:
- Core sessions covering foundational Model-Driven Engineering (MDE) concepts like language engineering, model processing, and validation;
- cutting-edge Topic sessions exploring the intersection of MDE with modern advancements such as artificial intelligence, digital twins, and model-based testing;
- and inspiring Path sessions dedicated to navigating career opportunities in academia and industry, highlighted by a visit to Google's Cybersecurity Engineering Center in Málaga.

With dedicated time for participants' pitches, collaborative work sessions, and extensive networking, FAME offers an unparalleled opportunity to deepen your knowledge and connect with leading minds in the software modelling community.

This year’s edition program is available online: https://fame-school.github.io/program/

Foundational and cutting-edge Model-Driven Engineering (MDE) topics will be presented by Juan de Lara, Lola Burgueño, Inmaculada Ayala Viñas, Benoit Combemale, Judith Michael, Stefan Klikovits, Dimitris Kolovos, Zoltán Micskei, Dániel Varró, Alfonso Pierantonio, and Marsha Chechik. Additionally, attendees will hear valuable career perspectives from Antonio Vallecillo, who will discuss the academic path, and Paula Muñoz, who will share insights on transitioning to industry. Finally, Leen Lambers and Sébastien Mosser will serve as facilitators, guiding student pitches and collaborative work sessions throughout the event.

This year’s cohort is limited to 40 participants.

Instructions to apply for a seat are available on the website: https://fame-school.github.io/participation/

Looking forward to seeing you in Malaga!
