In October 2020, Congress published the report on competition in digital markets, featuring their findings on acquisitions entrenching Alexa's dominance of the Internet of Things.[31] Along with the rationale for acquiring Ring, the investigation also surfaced Siminoff's involvement in the Eero acquisition, hinting at the Ring Alarm Pro: an Eero + Ring hub launched in 2021.[32]
In April 2021, ADT Inc. sued Ring for trademark infringement, after re-introducing blue octagonal signs that were too similar to the ADT logo. Ring first agreed to cease using a similar logo in 2016 following a prior complaint.[33]
Ring products require a "Ring Protect" subscription plan in order to store and view recordings from the cameras; without a subscription, the user is limited to real-time footage only. The "Ring Protect Basic" plan allows footage to be retained for 60 days, while the "Ring Protect Plus" subscription adds "unlimited" storage of footage, enables professional monitoring and LTE cellular backup on the Ring Alarm, and extends the warranty on the user's Ring products from one year to the life of the devices.[63][64][65]
Neighbors is a hyperlocal social networking app launched by Ring in 2018. Described as being akin to a neighborhood watch, it allows users to crowdsource information on and discuss safety and security concerns in their area. The service allows users to share footage captured from Ring products. All user posts are anonymous and do not include specific location information, and are moderated to remove off-topic content (in contrast to services such as Nextdoor). Ring also has partnerships with local police departments in some cities to incorporate Neighbors into their crime monitoring processes, who are able to make official posts for distribution on the service. Ring has credited the service with having helped to solve crimes, and noted that activity on the service surged in areas of California affected by wildfires in November 2018.[22][23]
In August 2019, a Buzzfeed News reported, "Ring Says It Doesn't Use Facial Recognition, But It Has "A Head Of Face Recognition Research."" The piece reported on a 2018 presentation from Ring Ukraine's "Head of Face Recognition Research", as well as a statement from Ring Ukraine's website stating, "We develop semi-automated crime prevention and monitoring systems which are based on, but not limited to, face recognition."[83][84]
The company did not state what hiring changes would be made. It is not known whether the company performed Office of Foreign Assets Control (OFAC) background checks, but failure to do so may have resulted in a violation of US Sanctions.[97]
The birth control ring (AKA the vaginal ring, or the ring) is a safe and convenient birth control method that works really well if you always use it correctly. You wear a small, flexible ring inside your vagina, and it prevents pregnancy 24/7 by releasing hormones into your body. The ring has lots of other health benefits, too. There are 2 kinds of birth control rings: NuvaRing and Annovera.
Each NuvaRing lasts for up to 5 weeks. You take your old NuvaRing out of your vagina and put in a new one about once a month, depending on the ring schedule you choose. You can also use NuvaRing to safely skip your period if you want to. Read more about how to use NuvaRing.
Like most birth control pills, the ring contains the hormones estrogen and progestin. These are similar to the hormones our bodies make naturally. You wear the ring inside your vagina, and you absorb the hormones into your body though your vaginal lining.
Ring does not sell your personal information to anyone. We occasionally collaborate with third-party service providers that specialize in delivering different benefits, such as identifying and solving your problems faster when you contact Ring Community Support, providing you with personalized Ring offers and discounts, and communicating important alerts about your devices, like when your battery is low. Collaborating with these third-party service providers allows us to deliver the best possible Ring experience to you.
With an optional Ring Protect Plus plan, opt into Assisted Monitoring via the Ring app and Ring Alarm will automatically call three emergency contacts during an Alarm event.
You'll also receive cellular backup in case your Wi-Fi goes offline. Now, someone you trust can respond, even if you're on a plane without phone coverage.
Ring takes recurring photo snapshots throughout the day so you can see what is happening between motion-activated events (videos) in your Event History Timeline. These photos are stored in your account for up to 7 days. To keep important photos beyond 7 days, download them to your PC or mobile device.

The World Data Service for Paleoclimatology manages the International Tree-Ring Data Bank (ITRDB), the world's largest public archive of tree ring data. Oversight is provided by the ITRDB Advisory Committee. The ITRDB includes raw ring width, wood density, isotope measurements, and site growth index chronologies from more than 5,000 sites on six continents. Reconstructed climate parameters are also available for some areas.
The first topical HIV prevention method to be submitted for regulatory approval, the dapivirine vaginal ring (DVR) is a silicone ring, developed by the International Partnership for Microbicides (IPM).
The ring is inserted in the vagina and slowly releases an antiretroviral drug called dapivirine over the course of one month to help protect against HIV at the site of potential infection. Little of the drug is absorbed elsewhere in the body, making it unlikely to be found in high concentrations in the bloodstream and other body tissues. This may reduce side effects as well the risk of development of HIV resistance. Data from Phase III studies of the ring show no evidence that it increased resistance to non-nucleoside reverse transcriptase inhibitors (NNRTIs), the class of ARV drug to which dapivirine belongs and which is also used in some treatment regimens.
Today, women account for more than half of all people living with HIV globally, and face persistently high HIV-infection rates. But women face unique challenges when it comes to adhering to a daily pill due to gender inequity, social norms and other structural barriers.
