I was chatting with a friend tonight and he was giving me some grief
that I was not updating my blog enough, so I decided to show him up and
send out yet another image of the week tonight.
A little push is sometimes all it takes :)
I purposefully got up early this morning to be able to stop at the
beach on the way to work so I could shoot a little bit... my intention
was to add to my ongoing collection of wave form photographs, but I got
a little distracted by these tiny, five inch long shorebirds called
Sandpipers. Wonderful little creatures they are, they run up to the
receding waves and peck away at the sand, then run up the beach away
from the wave in a perfect union. Every once in awhile they fly up and
down the beach in a flurry of white wings, landing in concert to begin
the whole operation again.
I snuck up as close as possible, and shot dozens of pictures,
eventually leaving when I realized I would be just making it to work on
time... While I was at work, all I could think of is getting home and
checking out the images to see if I got something particularly nice...
and what do you know, out of 80 some odd shots I got a couple halfway
decent ones.
So what I have done here, as you will see, is stack three images on the
following web page. The first one is a 100% crop. This means, what you
see on the webpage is what I see when I enlarge the image to 100% in
photoshop and crop 700x500 pixels out of it.. The second picture is a
larger area crop and then the third picture is the full image.
Essentially, the first picture is of such size, that if you had a
computer monitor 70 inches by 46 inches, then the first image would be
a 1 to 1 crop... the last picture would be 70 inches by 46 inches...
kind of amazing really, at least I think.

I'll be taking more pictures of the sandpipers... as I think they are
quite interesting :)
