A commission took me to the home in rural Arroyo Grande this last week
to shoot some actor headshots for a friend. It's a place which I would
love to live at for the photographic opportunities, but not for
location for the fact it is too far out from downtown San Luis Obispo.
In the middle of nowhere, which most of this county is, the trees, the
dirt roads, the grass, the decrepit buildings all exude a character and
attractiveness that is just about impossible to actually set up. All of
the pieces have to fall into place in their own time, otherwise the
mark of time is neglected and the mark of man becomes more apparent.
The day was a respite from the rain, although the clouds threatened the
entire five hours or so I spent at the residence. I was somewhat
restricted to the fact I needed to actually complete my commission with
some semblance of professionalism, but in between clothing changes I
managed to escape the grip of my employer of the day to grab some
photographs of the surrounding details of his house. I did not notice
this arrangement in the beginning when I arrived, but it shouted at me
halfway through the shoot. Very mundane, very simple, but what I think
to be a beautiful natural yet unnatural arrangement of patterns and
shades of green. A nice tidy little grid, almost too perfect and almost
too easy to miss.

It doesn't really mean anything. It might not actually appeal to many
people's aesthetics. It seems to me though, it might actually be
interpreted as something of significance depending on the viewer. Why
did I pick this image to share? It's actually hard to say, but I like
the way the shades of green and the patterns produced by the grass, the
moss, the hose and the ivy compete in a 2 by 3 concert of abstract
harmony.
I marvel at the simple things in the world.

ps I made a big boo-boo two weeks ago when I thought Linnaea forgot
about me, I was mistaken about the date of my hanging of the Seven
Sands of San Simeon. These images will be in the front of Linnaea's
Coffee shop from tonight until the end of April. Check 'em out if you
can. Also, from the last email, I mixed a little Schrodinger with
Heisenberg. Perhaps my memories of quantum physics are a little
dingerberged :)
