If you think there’s an error and we’re missing one of your submissions/tasks, please contact us as soon as possible.

2) The annotation period for the evaluation phase has just started and will be from now until February 21st. We will release the final leaderboard at that time, so you have time to incorporate the information in your papers.

3) About the papers: We strongly recommend that you submit a paper describing your system to SemEval 2026 Task 1. These papers will be published in the SemEval 2026 Proceedings, which are highly regarded in the NLP and AI communities, and will be included in the ACL Anthology.

If you can’t write the paper, please send us a short paragraph describing your work so we can include it in the overview.

Please include the names of all your team participants as authors of the paper.

Remember the deadline for the papers (or short system description) is February 28th.

Here you can find SemEval’s Paper Submission Requirements and Guidelines for Writing Papers.

You are also encouraged to use ACL Pubcheck prior to submission to ensure that your paper is ready for the ACL proceedings:

ACL Pubcheck Tool: https://huggingface.co/spaces/teelinsan/aclpubcheck

ACL Pubcheck Github: https://github.com/acl-org/aclpubcheck

4) Your system paper must cite this shared task with the following LaTeX BibTeX entry:

@inproceedings{semeval2026mwahaha,

  title={{SemEval-2026 Task 1: MWAHAHA, Models Write Automatic Humor And Humans Annotate}},

  author={Castro, Santiago and Chiruzzo, Luis and G{\'o}ngora, Santiago and Rahili, Salar and Deng, Naihao and Sastre, Ignacio and Amoroso, Victoria and Rey, Guillermo and Ros{\'a}, Aiala and Moncecchi, Guillermo and Meaney, J. A. and Prada, Juan Jos{\'e} and Mihalcea, Rada},

  booktitle={Proceedings of the 20th International Workshop on Semantic Evaluation (SemEval-2026)},

  year={2026}

}

5) Remember that if you participated in submitting a system, you can’t annotate in this phase. Based on the number of raters we have, we might complement with other annotators from Prolific or other annotation platforms. As a result, we are not releasing the leaderboard yet, as it may change suddenly due to a surge of votes.

Regards,

MWAHAHA organizing team
