Naruto is an anime television series based on the manga series of the same name by Masashi Kishimoto. The series centers on the adventures of Naruto Uzumaki, a young ninja of the Hidden Leaf Village, searching for recognitions and wishing to become the ninja by the rest of the village to be the leader and the strongest of all. The series was directed by Hayato Date, and produced by Pierrot and TV Tokyo.[1] The episodes are based on the first twenty-seven volumes in Part I of the manga, while some episodes feature original, self-contained storylines.[2]

The 220 episodes that constitute the series were aired between October 3, 2002, and February 8, 2007, on TV Tokyo in Japan.[1] The English version of the series was released in North America by Viz Media, and began airing on September 10, 2005, on Cartoon Network's Toonami programming block in the United States.[3] On September 20, 2008, Cartoon Network ended its Toonami block, but the channel continued sporadically airing episodes of Naruto in the time slots originally occupied by Toonami's programming until January 31, 2009 when episode 209, the last episode to air in the US was shown, due to the closure of Toonami Jetstream.[4]

On March 23, 2009, Viz stated that they were still dubbing new episodes and intended to see them aired on television.[5][6] Ultimately, the final eleven episodes of the series never aired in the United States, but they were collected on DVD by Viz, which was released on September 22, 2009.[7] The remaining eleven episodes of the English version aired on YTV's Bionix programming block in Canada from October 25 to December 6, 2009.[8] Adult Swim's relaunched Toonami block reran the first 52 episodes in a completely uncut format from December 1, 2012, to November 30, 2013. After the 52nd episode, the series was removed from the schedule rotation to make room for its successor series, Naruto: Shippuden.[9]

Naruto Shippuden was an anime series that ran from 2007 to 2017. In total 500 episodes of Naruto Shippuden were aired. With a total of 203 reported filler episodes, Naruto Shippuden has a high filler percentage of 41%.

Naruto is one of the most popular animes and mangas of all time, but for first timers it can be a bit tricky to know where to start. With hundreds of episodes and numerous movies for Naruto and its sequel Naruto Shippuden, trying to figure out the correct watch order can feel a bit overwhelming for anyone new to the franchise. And that's even before taking into account the Boruto follow-up.

The best way to watch Naruto is in chronological order, which is slightly different to release order. You'll want to watch episodes of Naruto and Naruto Shippuden in order and then stop to watch the movies when they take place in the timeline.

It has been confirmed that as part of the Naruto 20th anniversary celebrations four brand new episodes will be released in 2023. These episodes were originally due to air in September 2023 but have, been pushed back to "further raise its quality" according to an announcement on the official Naruto website. No further release date has been given.

Simply head to the Naruto Crunchyroll page, Naruto Shippuden Crunchyroll page or Boruto Next Generations Crunchyroll page and choose the first season. Then, click on the episode you want to watch. These episodes are available to watch for free with ads.

Naruto goes up against numerous villains as a shinobi, turning many of his fiercest enemies into strong allies. Each arc in the franchise pits the Hidden Leaf Village against new challenges, and many of its 720 episodes perfectly capture the emotional toll it takes on those who carry the Will of Fire.

From 2002 to 2017, Naruto and Naruto: Shippuden captivated anime audiences around the world, earning the franchise a spot in animation history with its massive impact. Countless memories are made throughout these series, culminating in one final episode that puts a bow on arguably the most popular anime of all time.

For many reasons, "The Message" is one of the most affecting episodes in the Naruto franchise. Naruto's acknowledgment of Iruka as his true father figure leaves both Iruka and viewers in tears, and his matrimony with Hinata finalizes a romance over a decade in the making. This, along with multiple other touching moments, is why Naruto: Shippuden's final episode stands as one of its greatest achievements.

With Naruto set to celebrate its 20th anniversary, fans will be getting their wish with not one, not two, not three, but four brand-new episodes set during the events of the original series. This makes it the first time we've been able to see Naruto Uzumaki during his glory days since Naruto: Shippuden closed the book on his story in 2017. To learn more about the milestone celebration and its episode count, plot details, release date, and more, here is everything we know about the Naruto 20th Anniversary Special Event.

Initially, Naruto's 20th Anniversary was set to begin on Sunday, September 3rd via cable on networks affiliated with TV Tokyo at 5:30 PM Japanese Standard Time. Unfortunately, the episodes had to be delayed. The NARUTO Anime Production Committee released the following statement:

A revised broadcast schedule will be announced on our official site and social media once it is finalized. A selection of BORUTO: Naruto Next Generations episodes featuring the best of that series will air in the time slot previously scheduled for the new anime.

VIZ Media has not yet announced a date for if and when the episodes will be available outside Japan. At the time of this writing, an international release and English-dub release has not been announced.

For the Japanese release, the Naruto 20th Anniversary Special will be premiering on cable via networks affiliated TV Tokyo every Sunday starting September 3rd. With no international release being announced by VIZ Media, we also don't know exactly where the anniversary episodes will be premiering (though a streaming release would be most likely). If we were to guess, Crunchyroll would be the most likely platform for a streaming release, given how it has become the domestic hub for anime content in recent years. However, Hulu is also a possibility, considering it's the only other platform where one can watch Naruto, Naruto: Shippuden, and Boruto: Naruto Next Generations.

The last time the audience saw him, he and Naruto had a massive fight at the Valley of the End, and Sasuke left to join Orochimaru and receive more training to learn how to use his curse mark. Even though Naruto: Shippuden is highly praised, even higher than the original Naruto anime run, it isn't without some seriously weak episodes here and there. These are the ten worst-rated episodes of Naruto: Shippuden according to IMDb.

This is an episode taking place within a dream that Jiraiya wrote within the novel in his dream world. People were not happy about the Jiraiya scroll episodes continuing onwards for such a long stretch of filler. But there are some interesting subtle differences. Sasuke was changed slightly in the opening for this episode, for example.

Plus, for fans of Jiraiya and Naruto's relationship, some people were happy to see the two of them together again even if it was all just inside of a dream. But ultimately, this was a boring episode that offered little interest to fans or the canon universe.

The best part about this episode was Itachi showing up, but as one of the most interesting parts of the episode, his character was limited, taking away from most of the enjoyment. Killer B is already a controversial character with many fans finding him more annoying than anything else.

It was difficult for them to watch filler episodes about his dreamworlds, although some fans were pleased by the humorous elements. There was also a strange change to the tailed beasts animation that people weren't thrilled with. To make matters worse, for some reason, the writers decided it was a good idea to stretch the Killer B filler into two full episodes.

This episode continues the fight between Shikamaru's team and Jiraiya's team that begins in the previous episode. It also offers a somewhat interesting antagonist who has the ability to use Byakugan, and this allows Neji to come into the spotlight more. But ultimately, it's another episode in a stale filler arc that does little to appease fans.

Even the addition to popular secondary characters into more central roles isn't enough to save the episode that is mostly dull. It does set the groundwork for a better follow-up episode that might even contain a more interesting and action-packed battle for the most part, it's worth skipping the episode (and the arc) altogether.

It appears in the dreamworld, Sasuke is edging towards becoming the Madara character. He still intends to destroy Konoha. First, he wants to kill Orochimaru, but he is unable to due to being poisoned. Naruto cannot control his chakra. Again, another filler episode in a very long filler arc that doesn't seem to improve the longer it goes on.

This is the second part of the infamous Killer B dream and filler episode. Still part of the odd dreamworld/Jiraiya's scroll arc, this episode is a direct follow-up to part one of Killer B's story. This episode does feature the return of fan-favorite characters like Itachi, Sasori, and Deidara, but again, they're featured in such limited roles it's hard enough to make up for the weakness of the overall storyline.

This is an episode where you can clearly see how lackluster the filler animation is as well with some awkward choices in depicting certain sequences. This episode ends with the Akatsuki being attacked by the tailed beasts and Killer B happy about it from his dream world.
