Dear Members,

I am canceling the organization meeting for the big data and fraud detection conference on Monday. At this time we do not have the financial resource to pursue organizing a conference. ACM requires that we have the funds to cover the total cost of the conference, assuming the worst case scenario of no revenue. We would need a corporate underwriter to assist us in getting this off the ground. One member indicated that his company would have to get it into next years budget cycle, I am assuming this would push the date out to 2016. 21st Century Technologies sent the below email. After multiple attempts to contact Kyle Flaherty, I was not able to get any further response from 21st Century Technologies. I don't know what is going on. Many government contractors are losing contracts with the sequestration and budget cuts. I hope they are not going under like many other government contractors. Regardless, we do not have the funds to pursue this idea and the couple of leads for corporate underwriting did not materialize. Lastly my term as chairperson ends in February. I do not want to make a commitment that lasts into 2015 or 2016. Elections are in February. If people still want to work on this project, they can pursue it with the new chairperson.

Hello David, your email was forwarded to me by Laura Hitt here at 21CT. We are certainly interested in being involved as you start to plan this conference and can certainly provide some help in the beginning about planning such a thing and possibly the corporate sponsorship.

Is there a plan to get a group together to start talking logistics, budget, etc…like an advisory board? That is something that can be really helpful getting a con off the ground.

Either way I'm looking forward to making your acquaintance soon,
/kff
