Signing up for Advanced Hadoop Based Machine Learning

Austin ACM SIGKDD will be offering Advanced Hadoop Based Machine Learning in the spring. We will meet on Wednesday evenings. Eighteen people completed the Hadoop Based Machine Learning this fall. There is no requirement to have attended the fall course to attend Advanced Hadoop Based Machine Learning. The course is free and you will receive an official ACM certificate for successfully completing the course.

The spring course will be very mathematical. We will cover hidden Markov models, expectation-maximization algorithms, graph algorithms, clustering, decision trees. This is neither an intro to Hadoop or machine learning. Understanding the basics of Hadoop is expected.

The first couple of courses of the fall semester had over 50 people show up. We had over 100 people on the roster, yet only 18 people completed the course. Please make sure you are committed for the semester if you are going to come. We only have table seating for 28 people and total seating for only 42 people before people have to sit on the floor. The students who completed the fall course are guaranteed a spot in the spring class.

Please RSVP for the class. I have turned on the RSVP for the January 15, 2014 class. In general, the rsvp function is enabled 10 days before a class.
