There is no meeting scheduled for July.

For August, I would like to go back to the weekly meeting format. I propose we work on learning the random forest algorithm and implementation in Mahout. This is based on decision trees, which are less complex mathematically than SVMs to present. There are a number of papers on random forests, with links from the Mahout web page on the algorithm. There is a Hadoop implementation of random forest in Mahout. We can spent some time dissecting the code. It seemed the group liked doing that when we reviewed the naive Bayes algorithm.
