Heobtained his doctorate in veterinary medicine from North Carolina State University in 1996. He was a member of the Phi Zeta Veterinary Honor Society and graduated Cum Laude with honors with a Bachelor Science degree in biology and minor in chemistry from Lenior-Rhyne University in Hickory, NC. He practiced for 7 years in Wilmington, NC before relocating to Anderson with his wife and joining the team at Electric City Animal Clinic in 2003.
Dr. Herold has interests in internal medicine, dermatology and dentistry. He is a member of both the Veterinary Dental Society and Veterinary Dermatology Society. He is also certified in vet stem medicine. Dr. Herold enjoys the interaction with pets and clients and the positive effects he can have on their health and lives as well as how the pets and clients impact on his life. He feels this is a very rewarding and inspirational way to spend his day.
Dr Herold and his wife are avid boaters, enjoy hiking, and target shooting. They volunteer for Meals on Wheels, Alzheimer's and MS and are care takers of two dogs and a cat. Ethel is a senior long hair dachshund. She was adopted by Dr. Herold in 2012. Ethel has severe allergies that are controlled with persistent daily treatment. She has a sister Lucy, a smooth coated dachshund and a feline domestic short hair brother, Elliott.

He got his license to practise medicine in 1974 and started his career as a hospital doctor for internal medicine at a Cologne hospital in 1974. From 1981 to 2003 he was the clinical director of the occupational health department of the Ford company in Cologne, Germany. Since then he has been working as a freelance consultant in health advice. He is a specialist for internal medicine with postgraduate qualifications in occupational medicine and environmental medicine. In his leisure time he works on the annual updates of his textbook. In his holiday he enjoys traveling to East Prussia and the Curonian Spit.
