Your emails remind me with our good time in SELF2007. I learnt so fast and much from SELF2007. I have to thank Tin-jin for her bible study session. Now I use the same method in Hong Kong and we enjoy so much. I have developed a blog to record our bible study though most of you cannot read it because it's in Chinese:

And the problem I face in Hong Kong is Christians seldom read the Bible. Once I met a few students and we started bible study together. As they said that they were concern with the issue of homosexuality, we began to read those passages in Bible that are always quoted to against homosexuality. What surprised me most is they dont even know who PAUL is, how can we begin our bible study? What I plan to do is to start with the background of Paul's letter but with no idea of who Paul is, we start from the very very beginning: a brief introduction to Paul.
Last year we experience two great movement: the anti high speed railway movement and the five district referendum movement. I have never felt so strongly that I am not only with the poor, but we are the poor. We are not only fighting with the SAR government, but the real power behind: China. One pastor from evangelical background quoted from the bible Romans 13:1-7 and said that we should obey the government and should not participate in the referendum movement. As more and more pastors side with the government-business coalition, reading Bible ourselves but not only follow what the pastors say, become very important and even a radical means to anti the pastor-government-business coalition. Thus we organize a campaign called "five district bible study" and we studied the bible passages related to politics: Romans 13:1-7, 1 Peter 2:13, Ephesians 6:12, Matthew 10 and Mark 12:14-17 in five churches.
I change a lot. After all those struggles and movements, I know deeper the meaning of becoming a Christian: Jesus is with the poor and marginalized. Love your enemies, because those who take away your property, hit you, curse you are as the same class as you (both of you are poor people). Love your enemies is not to love the terrible government officials or rich people (so terrible that some Christians even pastors to say so) because from the very beginning of the speech Jesus said: "Blessed are ye that hunger now: for ye shall be filled. Blessed are ye that weep now: for ye shall laugh". I am so moved when understanding this. And if I want to follow Jesus Christ and become a real Christian, I should always find the most poor and marginalized group and see the world and Bible from their eyes.
Too much now :)
