Greetings All
As Global Afrika’s Machinery for Change gets in gear, mapping an alternative path more suitable and manageable for conscious Afrikans, on a self-help basis’, a counter machinery is being deployed by a coalition of inter-racial players, those at home and those abroad, to distract collective efforts being undertaken by a global multi-cultural and multi-ethnic collective.
Those who are of vision, sense of justice, service to Afrikan, unity of purpose, courage, consistency, communality and sacrifice. People brought together by the tide and current of injustice, disorder, imbalance, disharmony, untruth, isolation, deception and exploitation.
In a message dated 6th November 2015, Elder, Dr Kofi Agyapon, Ghanaian born, now a USA citizen, and Chairman of the organisation, Sons and Daughters of Africa (SADA), wrote:
“To me there is no need to numerically classify all our ancestors from the most important contributor towards our upliftment from the fall, the Western world has done to the African people.
“My interest is to get folks, who are interested in pushing our UNITY to our leaders, to accept the fact that unless we find a way to use our human and natural resources, as a people living on contiguous or abutting lands, our descendants will continue to be dependent on Eurocentric ideas.
“We should not waste time listing the most important name to Africa unity or African history. We must use our past as a guide to our future.”
Later, in a message dated 6th November 2015, by Elder, Dr. Motso Pheko, a long-time member of the leadership of the Pan African Congress of Azania (South Africa), it stated:
“ I am a little concerned, HOWEVER , that this question of names seems to be divisive in that the proponents have special heroes among them. They feel bad when their heroes are left out because of the number you have agreed to FIX.
“I respect all the Pan Africanists whose names have been mentioned, but they should not be more important than Pan Africanism, the ideology they championed and left it to Africans as a lasting legacy to pull this continent out this neo-colonial QUAGMIRE.
“Pan Africanist pioneers must be given equal respect. There is none that is more important that the others. They played their roles at different periods and contributed to the ideal of Pan Africanism in different ways.
“ This whole question of names is diverting you from the Pan Africanist vision – the African United States/United States of Africa. Our great Pan Africanist ancestors are not interested in a war or divisions. They want the triumph and victory of Pan Africanism.
“The victory of Pan Africanism is the victory of them all. But the victory of a few at the expense of Pan Africanism grieves them because it kills their vision for which they died. The fighting over names is not inspiring to Pan Africanists. This whole question names manifests a loss of focus about the good work you are doing.” Concluded Dr. Motsoko Pheko.
The four decade old Afrika and Diaspora Institute (Adi), a Premier Think Tank on Afrika and Diaspora Affairs, based in Europe, was most extensive in its 6th November 2015 response, to those attempting to giving points to giants of Afrikan consciousness. Those giants who had gone on before us and those who are still with us.
Adi, Chaired by Elder Dr. Vince Hines, Veteran Community Advocate, Author, Journalist, Indigenous Afrikan(DNA verification), born in St Ann’s Bay, on the Caribbean Island of Jamaica, wrote:
“Some fell in this divisive trap of family member comparison. Ironically, that was not intended originally by what appeared to be an innocent suggestion. This goes to show how easily it is for us to walk into concepts and apply the same without first considering potential consequences. False pride.
“Cheikh Anta Diop, for example, did what he needed to do, based on his gift at his time, which greatly benefited Global Afrika. So did Marcus Mosiah Garvey and the other Afrikan giants of our 20th century history. And those who are still with us, devoting their time and efforts for a higher than individual interest. Theirs’ were, and are, not more, or less, than the others.
“To a hungry and thirsty person, who is more important, the child who brings a cup of water or the adult who brings a loaf of bread?
“This comparison game is basically a Eurocentric subtle distraction, amidst a most crucial exercise by Global Afrika in the 21st century, constructing new paths for Our Future. Such a comparison is inconsistent with Afrikan historical communal principles, as emphasised by Cheikh Anta Diop. We do what we need to do for the welfare of our Afrikan Collective and Time-tested Friends, now and in the future.
“Comparisons of this type encourage unnecessary and potentially destructive competitions, private enterprise, rejections, potential envy, jealousy, exclusivity and strife. And so, when the ‘top twenty’ are selected, what do we do with the unselected, having their vast, historical and unassailable track records of achievements?
“We put in the basket what we have, without seeing who puts the most or least.
“Until we truly start thinking collectively, we are unlikely to be in a place where we are ready to sacrifice ourselves for Our Afrikan Cause, for which so many of us professed and still professing. Some of whom do so in educated ignorance.
“Let’s all wise up. There are seriously and diabolically clever enemies among us. Let’s stop navel-gazing. Focus on substance and utilitarian values, based on needs for Collective benefits. In solidarity, as usual,” Adi concluded.
The rebuttal is thorough and complete. It is good to know that our watchmen and watchwomen have not fell asleep at their posts. They are sounding alarms when enemies are in our midst or even approaching afar off.
