I've had the pleasure of attending a 7-day silent retreat led by Noah Levine. Noah is one of the most inspirational people I've met and he is in no way of a typical Buddhistic (a word? google thought so) upbringing yet is thoroughly grounded in the teachings. He brings forth the meaning without any religiosity or being overly symbolic. He is very real and he appeals to people who have walked the rougher road as much as the intellectual.
