couldn't register this node : Hub is down or not responding: Connection to <ip-add> refused

Hi,

I am trying to set-up selenium grid on 2 linux machines.
My own machine, i am using as a hub, and a different virtual linux machine i am using as a node.

To start the hub i am using below command:
java -jar selenium-server-standalone-2.35.0.jar -role hub

and To start the node i am using below command:
java -jar selenium-server-standalone-2.35.0.jar -role node -hub http://<ip-add>:4444/grid/register

But node is not registering with the hub. It gives me below error:

couldn't register this node : Hub is down or not responding: Connection to <ip-add> refused


I do have disabled the firewall on hub. And when i ping the hub from the node machine it works.

have you checked the firewall settings for the node as well ?

What happens if you replace the IP address with the machine name ? Does it work ?

java -jar selenium-server-standalone-2.42.2.jar -role webdriver -hub http://localhost:4444/grid/register -port 7777

Hello please if I can ask a question . Can we have hub and node on two different versions of RHEL . Hub on Linux 6 and node on Linux 7. Please help. Thanks Kriti
