Depends on:

 

·         How quickly you can pick things up.

·         What you mean by Selenium (WebDriver, Selenium IDE).

·         Your level of technical knowledge with your choice of programming language (Assuming you want to learn WebDriver).

·         Your definition of “learnt” (Perform a basic search in google|Automate a website with an existing test framework|Write your own test framework from scratch).

 

Basically it’s something we cannot answer for you.

 

The best place to start is with the documentation on Selenium HQ, I would also suggest looking at the Selenium blog for useful resources:

If you are not a programmer, you may learn at least one of support programming language by selenium firstly, then, some html / javascript /xpath knowledge is necessary for performing the programming. If you have all above already, learning the API of selenium is not diffcult but be experienced is another story. Go to the forum is a better idea for a starter. I am not familar with the IDE, sounds it can help you have a fast understanding of Selenium.

I started at an internship a few weeks ago, sat me down with the selenium IDE and I poked around with that and essentially got the idea by the end of the day.

I then ventured into the webdriver for C# and picked that up within a week (as in could code it rather well and knowing what I was doing).  I am still learning however, but I can make the tests we need rather quickly.  Right now I am having trouble implementing different browsers but just with firefox its easy.
