Not sure why you are seeing what you are though. Is there any errors in
the FF Error Console (also from the Tools menu)?

You can also try the window toolbar option to see if it is hidden
offscreen.
Which version of Mac OS are you using? Are you on an Intel based Mac
or the older G-series? I am on an Intel Mac with Leopard OS. It could
be the OS is not compatible with the Selenium IDE plugin.
The other possibility is one of the plugins or addons you have
installed does not work with Selenium IDE. To check this, open a
Terminal, cd to /Application/Firefox, cd down until you find firefox-
bin (I think it is in something like /Application/Firefox/MacOS/
Content/). Run ./firefox-bin -P. This will let you create and select
profiles. Create a new profile (I call it selenium) and run it. When
you do this you'll have a Firefox with no plugins. You can then
installed the Selenium IDE and see if it works. If it works then
something you've added to your Default Firefox is interfering with
Selenium IDE.
