From the readme https://github.com/SeleniumHQ/selenium, Java 8 JDK points to Oracle JDK. When I started using selenium, I had setup everything using Oracle JDK 8. Now since Oracle has stopped security updates for java 8 for commercial usage, I was thinking to use OpenJDK instead, for example Zulu build https://www.azul.com/downloads/zulu/

Does someone have experience with running everything in selenium java using OpenJDK? I could perhaps build entire java tests from selenium repo using OpenJDK but curious to know if someone might already have been running on OpenJDK from long thus saving my time there.

Praveen,

I would strongly encourage you to give it a try and post back if there are any specific issues. To the best of my knowledge, I don’t think the Selenium code base tries and leverages the features that are specific to any particular JDK flavor. So it should work as long as you are stick to the version compatibility as called out by the official documentation.

Thanks & Regards
