Hi,
I wonder if someone can help me, I'm relatively new to selenium and
have been teaching myself using internet pages... (so be gentle!)
In my test, I click a link (which brings up an email preview
screen).
I've tried the following:
clickandwait - times out
Click > pause of 30000 > SelectWindow, fail (says window does not
exist)
Click > WaitforPagetoLoad, time out

If I run the steps individually, they pass and are fine - but when I
run them in sequence my test fails or times out.

Any suggestions?
Thanks.

So is email preview a sort of pop up window?
If so then you could use waitForPopWindow.

Also, is there a way for us to access your application and see it ourselves?

Hi, thanks for the reply, I've tried 'waitforPopup' and again, this
command times out.
I'm afraid the application is a reporting tool for the NHS so I can't
provide access - the idea of the popup is that if there is a report/
chart you'd like to send to another user, so you select an envelope
icon, and the 'email preview' screen opens, in a seperate window.

Hi,
In addition I've also tried downloading a user extension for 'sleep'
and it doesn't seem to do anything - I used sleep | 30000 | | and yet
the test just seemed to skip past this step? Just wondering if maybe
it is an issue with pause/sleep rather than with recognising the
window?

Hey Saraha,

The moment from a Parent window to child should be explicitly given to Selenium,
so please add "selectWindow" in Command as null in Target, which says From pop up go back to my parent and start testing.
Hope this helps

Thanks
Jathin

Does this not select the parent window? I need to test the child
window, another example is selecting the help link, which brings up a
wiki page and I test the content in correct, but I can't select any
links because selenium is not selecting the 'help' window.
Also, all of my tests with 'selectWindow' are now not working (this is
since the 1.0.12 update to selenium IDE) Whereas before i could run
all previous tests with a full pass rate, now all of the
'selectWindow' steps are failing.

defect : #1923
