Hello,

I would like to automate google map using selenium web driver 4.4 in Java. I am still reviewing my requirements as for what exactly needs to be automated. I just like to play around and see how it works first.

I did google search but could not find anything helpful. Can you please refer me to some guides (if any) so that I can learn more about it?

Thanks!

Why you want to automate Google map, instead take some demo side.

What do you mean by demo side?
We are going to integrate google map with our web app. I need to be able to zoom in and out, search by city, etc. on the map to make sure correct data returned.

Google Maps is pretty robust that you don't need to regularly regression test the integration. I would think you don't actually have every test case automated at your organization? The Google Maps integration I think is better tested manually once in a while to ensure still works rather than trying to automate the coverage.

If you do want to automate, suggest you consider partial automation coverage as sanity check some basic functionality but not try to cover all the functionality of Google Maps that you've integrated/embedded to your site. Because full coverage without flaky test result would be hard to strive for, for something dynamic like that along with it being a 3rd party dependency.

I’m pretty sure Google has already tested that Google maps works. What’s the concern here?

Hi

As we all know Google is one of the best Search Engine. So it's a bit tuff to automate it's websites. And most of the info on Google are correct ✔, likely the one would be paid if he/she catches an errors or mistakes.
Though when comes for automation I would like to say that the Google web tables keeps changing after every refresh. Such that no automation would take place. Even i also worked for the same.
Thank you

Hi,

Google dont have its  own map service . They are using either from  here  maps or some other vendor. The maps testing and app services provided over maps can be tested through apis and inmemory browsers for correctness  and scale.  For mobile and web clients the client side part can be tssted offline through cypress or inmemory selenium  Browser.
