Basically just looking for an example of how to get past an auth alert using selenium

There are no working examples. No driver implementation (geckodriver, chromedriver, IEDriverServer, etc.) supports the authentication commands. That method has always been marked with the @Beta annotation, indicating that its support might be spotty. I know that’s not the answer you want, but that’s the state of the world with basic authentication.
