Is there any way to test/launch android application (.apk file) in phone using selenium 2.0 ?

Please share information , as  i could not get much information on this ..

But I dont want to use selendroid or appium.. Using only Selenium is it possible to open /test any application in my phone  ?

meena, no. They depracated and maybe removed the iPhoneDriver and AndroidDriver from the selenium project (a few months ago I think). I think you should use appium or selendroid to test an Android Application.

I believe that the client drivers viz IPhoneDriver and AndroidDriver have been removed from 2.40.0 as well. 

So its Selendroid or iOS driver of Appium for all mobile automation.
