Want to automate Sending SMS through selenium

Hi folks,

I wanted to check if we can automate sending SMS through a mobile phone and also the emulators (preferably android). Is this possible ?

Selenium can be used only for automation of web apps. For your requirement you should try native apps automation tools. Robotium , Calabash , appium might help. Automating an inbuilt system app can still be a challenge using these tools.

Why to send SMS ? Send email. As you are telling it is a smart phone, surely email can be configured in smart phone, so sending email is better than SMS.

Well as Raju mentioned email, that would be the better alternative, to send SMS through email gateway. Which you can drive with Selenium against some webmail, or better yet use native SMTP library in your programming language to send the SMS email.
