Hi all,

I'm new to selenium server and I'm studying what can be the best stuff to use it.

I'm a php programmer, but I saw that Selenium 2 has not an official client for it. Nowadays I'm using it in RC mode (not webdriver). I read that this mode will be deprecated soon. Is so?

Have you some experience with third party web-driver clients in php?

Or the best manner to use selenium 2 server is coding in Java?

I will test important enterprise web app.

Thanks, Salvatore

How much support for Selenium do you need? Which do you prefer to code in? PHP is not official, but it works just fine. There's various options but the most preferred & mature one I believe is:

https://github.com/Element-34/php-webdriver

Obviously you get the most/latest features in Java first than other languages though.

Don't know when RC mode support will be removed, I assume it is being deprecated already.

But my original question was actually how much Selenium 2 / WebDriver support do you need? If you don't anticipate a lot of issues, using PHP bindings for WebDriver should be just fine. But if you are preparing for the worst, and Java or another language is feasible or considered easier to manage (due to official support from the community when you have WebDriver problems) then maybe you would want to switch languages.

Selenium support - > for open source tools we have discussion group where ppl post and get the answers. we started project in RC and later migrated to web driver + java completely. What ever you do it in RC can be done in web driver + enhanced functions in WD.

My suggestion : Just get start with web driver and feel the difference.Support in terms of issues/show stopper, we are here to share each other suggestions/ experience based on the issue.
