I have been using sauce labs for a while and i feel they some issues every now and then. What are the alternative to sauce labs for running selenium tests in virtual machine with combination of OS and browser.

BrowserStack.

Also, you can use docker container and set up your own environment with a different OS with different Browser combinations and run tests on docker container. So It will save money and speed up test execution as docker container will be in the same network.

thanks. In docker container can you see a video replay of the run like how you can in sauce labs?

We are using zalenium (https://opensource.zalando.com/zalenium/). It allows you to see a view of all tests running in the containers and also allows the ability to record video however its a resource hog with video.

What's the purpose of recording test? You can take a screenshot whenever your test fails and run locally.
The recording will slow down tests.

to fix the test, any way you have to run the test locally and start working on it that can be also possible if you have a screenshot and get to know some idea about failure.

There are many alternative tools available, but in my team, we use LambdaTest to fulfill all of our testing needs. They allow us to run automation tests on a scalable selenium grid on the cloud. You can also try it.
