Hi Guyz,

It might be so silly things for you.
here is the problem:
I am running selenium IDE test case and test suite using Selenium server.
I have kept all my test suite and test case in a server, in that server am running the test suite for my application.
Now, I want to use any version control software to keep track of my test cases, so that more users can modify the test cases and it will show who has modified what.
Can u guyz please tell me which one I should use and how ?

Am thinking to use TFS, but wondering how i ll access it? I can access using Visual Studio but I use Selenium IDE for all modification and changes for my test cases.

So guyz please help, how can i use any version control and how

Thanks
Maxwell

What about SVN or git ?
Would that work for you ?

You can still use Selenium IDE to make modifications (although coming to think of it, if TFS is also a version control system, then you can use TFS as well).

P.S: I dont know anything about TFS.

Thanks & Regards

Ok, I may use TFS or SVN,

As a tester I have never worked with those version controls, still i can check with my developer friend how it ll work.
but, am wondering how it ll work with Selenium IDE, I have to open test cases in IDE to modify it.

You guyz might be using any tool, an u guyz please explain.

Thanks
Maxwell

Maxwell, you are right when you say "open test cases in IDE to modify it". It's only that after modifying your script you need to commit your changes to version control system (TFS in your case).
If you are looking for how to use TFS for version control then you would have to refer TFS docs.

In general I have seen three version control tools being used most  - SVN, GIT and Mercirial. But if you know one it should be easy to work with other.

 Thanks Tarun Kumar :)

I have finally done that, after reading ur reply, i tried to understand how TFS works. Then I did what I wanted.
Here is the way for any beginner like me :)
1. I have added all my test script to TFS module wise
2. I kept Testsuite separately for convenience and modified all the test case path in test suite
3. Now, all my testers can use any test case and modify that and then check in to reflect those changes
4. In history of those items I can track all those changes
5. Then in server using TFS get command I created a batch file to get the Latest test scripts and test suites and run the Selenium server to execute the test cases.
Thats it , Everything done :)
 Thanks everybody for replying .
