Thisis telling sheets to see what word is selected in A2 (Choose a question, Question 1, etc., then go to sheet 2 and select the image that matches my words that are in column D starting at D1 and my images are in column E ending at E12.

Now we need to add the progress bar. When an answer turns green, we want the progress bar to advance. Basically, you are adding the amount of correct answers together and telling the progress bar to load an image based on the number of correct answers.

Whew! That was a lot of work! Here is your final product. You also now have a template to use if you want to create future projects. You can change out the progress bar, the questions, and the answers in Sheet 2. Yay!

Hi there! I love this and I would love to use it but how can we prevent students from making a copy and sharing the answers with others? I know that we can protect sheet 2 and then hide it so that students cant open it. But in order for students to type in the google sheet, they must be editors and if they are editors, they could then make a copy of the sheet and look at the answers.

Any thoughts?

Consider things like; will the technology save time overall? How will it impact the user experience? What are the potential risks associated with using this technology? These are just a few questions you should ask yourself before moving forward with an online answer sheet checking system.

When you roll out any new system there would be some hiccups and backlashes from the team. People who are used to traditional way and are not tech savvy may not be comfortable in opting to new system.

Pilot project or pilot evaluation would help to assist your examiners and moderators to get used to the new system. Typically in the pilot project, examiners can commit certain mistakes, feedback can be provided in this phase for improvement. System integrator or technology project manager can take feedback from all stakeholders during this phase. Pilot phase is typically conducted for a limited set of examiners and moderators.

The second most important thing to implement before introducing online system of result checking or answer sheet checking is training.Training is an essential aspect to get to know new features of the system and understand, how exactly the system works and how to access the system using various devices like mobile tablets or computer devices.

All those things can be implemented in the form of online video, frequently asked questions and online help documentation. Here is an example of a step by step guide of evaluating the answer sheets in online mode. Such documents can help at any point of time if examiners get stuck during evaluation process they can refer to training documentation, training videos and prerecorded webinars to resolve their queries.

At that point of time, a quick support should be provided in the form of live chat or Email support as well as telephonic support, so that, examiners or any other stakeholders associated with online answer sheet checking can resolve their queries instantly.

Moderation process is an important aspect to scrutinise, correct inconsistencies in marks allotment process. Typically the role of the moderator is to recheck answer sheets which are already evaluated by one of the examiners.

Above mentioned rules can be customized according to the rules of the education institute. In the case of an online answer sheet evaluation system, you can easily configure such rules and randomly select answer sheets for the moderation from the pool and range of percentage marks.

There might be existing systems like ERP system or SAP which is being implemented by your institution, so it is necessary to ensure that the result format and API application format should be readily available within the existing system of ERP as well as API should also be available within answer sheet evaluation process system as well

Result processing becomes quite a seamless process where, as soon as examinations are done with their evaluation, the system can easily carry results from the answer sheet evaluation system and it can define or generate the mark sheets of the individual students as per the requirement.

It saves a lot of cost associated with education institutions or result processing becomes accurate and easy and it can be done in a record time. It also provides flexibility to the examiner as well as moderators while doing the answer sheet evaluation process.

We at Eklavvya have been working with many reputed education institutions, autonomous institutions and universities in order to simplify their answer sheet checking process, so if you want to understand best practices associated with answer sheet checking process, or you would like to know more details about it. Then, you can connect with us for the free demo of the system.

Answer sheet checking is one of the huge administrative tasks for any education institute/ University. Examination process is conducted for theory exams where candidate need to write answers. Examiner collects those answer sheets and submits to authority for checking process.

In this case physical answer sheet is checked by examiner/ paper checker. Paper check assigns marks for each answer sheet. 100% of all the answer sheets are checked. Manual process is needed to hide identify/ Roll No of the student whose paper is being checked.

Onscreen evaluation system can help to simplify this process as entire answer sheet is scanned and available for verification in software system. Examiner can login to the system and verify scanned answer sheets. System would also have following verification points

3.Automatic Score Calculation: Based on the exam pattern, sectionwise questions, optional questions and compulsory questions system would calculate total marks to be allotted. Examiner need not have to do this activity manually.

When paper checker is navigating between various pages of answer sheet , system would log time taken to read each answer page, marks allotted, marks revised etc. System would be able to provide total time taken by the paper checker for checking answer sheets.

After first round of evaluation of answer sheet is done there is step of second level moderation. Moderator may select 10 to 20% of the answer sheets evaluated by the paper checker in first stage. Those answer sheets are re-evalauted by the first level moderator.

In this case examiner can re evaluate answer sheet without taking into consideration of the marks allotted. If there is difference in rechecked marks and marks allotted then marks of the student may get changed.

Splashgain has developed onscreen evaluation system which is useful to simplify answer sheet evaluation process. It can help to post examination result declaration process. Result processing can be done in quick time.

Following is a description of the various statistics provided on a ScorePak item analysis report. This report has two parts. The first part assesses the items which made up the exam. The second part shows statistics summarizing the performance of the test as a whole.

Item statistics are used to assess the performance of individual test items on the assumption that the overall quality of a test derives from the quality of its items. The ScorePak item analysis report provides the following item information:

For items with one correct alternative worth a single point, the item difficulty is simply the percentage of students who answer an item correctly. In this case, it is also equal to the item mean. The item difficulty index ranges from 0 to 100; the higher the value, the easier the question. When an alternative is worth other than a single point, or when there is more than one correct alternative per question, the item difficulty is the average score on that item divided by the highest number of points for any one alternative. Item difficulty is relevant for determining whether students have learned the concept being tested. It also plays an important role in the ability of an item to discriminate between students who know the tested material and those who do not. The item will have low discrimination if it is so difficult that almost everyone gets it wrong or guesses, or so easy that almost everyone gets it right.

To maximize item discrimination, desirable difficulty levels are slightly higher than midway between chance and perfect scores for the item. (The chance score for five-option questions, for example, is 20 because one-fifth of the students responding to the question could be expected to choose the correct option by guessing.) Ideal difficulty levels for multiple-choice items in terms of discrimination potential are:

Item discrimination refers to the ability of an item to differentiate among students on the basis of how well they know the material being tested. Various hand calculation procedures have traditionally been used to compare item responses to total test scores using high and low scoring groups of students. Computerized analyses provide more accurate assessment of the discrimination power of items because they take into account responses of all students rather than just high and low scoring groups.

The item discrimination index provided by ScorePak is a Pearson Product Moment correlation2 between student responses to a particular item and total scores on all other items on the test. This index is the equivalent of a point-biserial coefficient in this application. It provides an estimate of the degree to which an individual item is measuring the same thing as the rest of the items.

Because the discrimination index reflects the degree to which an item and the test as a whole are measuring a unitary ability or attribute, values of the coefficient will tend to be lower for tests measuring a wide range of content areas than for more homogeneous tests. Item discrimination indices must always be interpreted in the context of the type of test which is being analyzed. Items with low discrimination indices are often ambiguously worded and should be examined. Items with negative indices should be examined to determine why a negative value was obtained. For example, a negative value may indicate that the item was mis-keyed, so that students who knew the material tended to choose an unkeyed, but correct, response option.
