Dostan Mohtaram:

I trust this email will find you in the best of health and spirit.

I would like to know if there is an interest in planting trees campaign this season? We can raise some funds, identify a date and time and cooperate with other groups to do our part in Kabul City. Let me know if this interests you.

God bless,

Kabul needs greenery, and we shall contribute to that. However, we shall be very well organized and make sure Kabul Municipality follows up on that later. I have very bad experience of such project implemented by Jahesh.

Dear Friends,
At the moment we need more input from the members. We all know each spring there are hundreds of enthusiastic groups working on plantation of the trees to make sure they do their part in making Kabul green and clear. Unfortunately this has proven to be like acute LOVE of street boys :) and seasonal, not rational. if we commit to something we need to make sure it last longer, to avoid last years experience of Jahesh.
This year we might take a different approach, it is not very hard but nothing is easy in this world. I am suggesting that once the group decided where and how to plant trees. we make a contract with someone, a small business or municipality maybe, to water once a week for the rest of the year. I am sure if trees are cared by end of the year, at least 70% of tree will survive to next year. I am sure once neighborhood learn how useful the green park could for their kids they will volunteer for providing water and care to the trees.

A success story of this is that near my new house, there is a small park and our family with two other neighbors committed to water the trees in turn and care the newly planted trees. Now trees are in their third year and a nice green park we have. :)
