I'm having a major problem finding doors and windows to fit my DC Farm House. I want to get them from HBS during the Fling so I can save some money, but Houseworks seems to be the only doors and windows they have, and the sizes are all off in one way or another.

The windows I can deal with (I think) I know I'm going to have to make all of the openings bigger, but the exterior doors are all too small for the opening. Any ideas how I can fill in around it so that it doesn't look like crapola. I'm really bummed with this, and still trying to figure out why DC sizes are so far off the standard. Also, anyone have any experience with returning things to HBS, just in case?

Hi. I know what you are dealing with. I am rehabbing a 'found' San Fran Dura-craft house and it has no windows and the doors were crappy. I bought doors from Ernie's site and I had to saw the openings bigger, which was not easy, but when the new doors fit in, and I put trim on the inside it looks great. Just saw your door openings bigger to fit the new doors.

Windows: Well, I bought some on Internet, a set of 25, but they were cheap and arrived 19 broken. I plan to buy the HBS windows (smaller than my openings) - I have 5 curved bay openings of 3 windows each to fill - and I will use hobby store trim to piece together frames to hold, and then use trim to try to make it look nice both inside and out. That's my plan.

Doors aren't all that difficult to make. Remember that you had to build the windows & doors from components in the kits. A lot of people gave up at this point and the kits going on the market for rehab without doors and windows reflect this. Ornamental millwork is available at the big box craft stores that you can use to make elegant exterior doorframes for smaller doors to fit into, or you can fudge sidelight/s & transoms to fill in the excess space.

I know you wanted to try HBS to save money, but I can speak from personal experience with getting Dura-Craft parts (windows, doors, and even main house pieces that were missing) from: Manchester Dollhouse and Woodworks. I know that you can get there by going to MANCHESTERDOLLHOUSEANDWOODWORKS.COM or on ebay; the store owner is "Austinnoggles".

Oh yeah, I know that site, I've purchased from him before. I checked his place earlier when I was coming up blank at HBS, unfortunately he didn't have anything really good for sale. Checked all the major players looking for a bargain, but no luck. Even without the sale HBS is cheaper than everyone else. But thanks anyway

Yup, checked all the big guys. HBS is way cheaper than any of the others. Think I'm going to have to go with Holly's suggestion and cut and fill where it's needed and call it a day. It's a little more work, but not as much work as building the windows that came with the kit. I'll just have to save them for another project...maybe something smaller that only needs one or two windows.

This kit comes with working windows, very different from the windows of my Fairfield... now those I put together and I still wound up substituting them for premade windows, just think they look more professional, more real. I found a tub of spackle in the bottom of one of the closets, mixed in with some cans of paint, so I can just set up a form and use that to fill in...a little paint and wall paper and it shouldn't be too obvious. And I picked up a Dremel tonight so that should make things much easier (I am sooooo done with spllinters). I like the idea of ornamental millwork, especially around the front door. I searched around and found a door that's really cute, it has the space at the top for the "glass" and the bottom has a sunburst radiating up from the corner. Thought that would be more appropriate for a farmhouse than what came with the kit. I may actually put real glass in the top of that door, saw some pieces tonight during my search with lovely etching on real glass, costs more than the door, but I may treat myself to that down the line.

Here's a picture of the door. and HBS is selling the glass inserts. Don't particularly like this one, but now I can't find the site where I saw the others. That's what I get for surfing all over the place. But I'm not worried, I'll find it.

I love the door! Another way to avoid splinters when sanding is to make yourself a sanding block. A piece of small scrap board for the sandpaper and a smaller piece of scrapwood glued to one side for a handle will do it. Emery boards are great for small spaces.

Oh I have a sanding block...it's what's coming off the pieces that's giving me the problem. I find myself covered in sawdust and splinters and I'm pulling those darn little things out of everywhere actually have a little mini brush and dustpan that I keep beside me so I can "sweep" myself off periodically (had one in my fanny that I couldn't reach (don't laugh ) that thing drove me crazy for about 3 days before it finally worked itself out of my skin.) I think it's just that the kit is old and dry, cause I didn't have this problem with my first house. I keep telling myself that I'm going to buy myself a nice little smock that I can put on when I work but when I'm out I never remember.

Check out Earth and Tree Miniatures site as well, They have different sizes of windows - heights and widths.I was looking for some windows for my Westville to fit 2 x 4 1/2, and I got very close with 2 x 4.

Hi! O.K. I have a dura-craft "newburg" that Im rehabbing. I know that the windows/doors always look like crap, and this is why I didnt touch it for a few years. The price to replace wouldve had me eat top ramen for awhile! So,recently,I brought it upstairs and I opened the spaces up to fit windows/doors and went insane. I made the windows myself.Took 3 weeks,8 windows(!).But it looks really good! I surprised myself. I could not leave them as they were, it was too depressing. So, after all that madness, my son cleaned out my garage, safely set aside another dollhouse I cant wait to start, and found all these windows I bought 5 years ago! ARRGH! They are going into the next one. Hopefully I will able to put picks up on that window thing, and youll know it can be done (maybe without telling family they can make their own dinner, cant you see Im working?!)Wendy

Mini Block Craft is a creation and survival game that's clearly inspired by the game Minecraft. Here, you get to make your way through an extensive world with voxel aesthetics. As you play, you'll be able to add all the cubes and elements that you want to shape your own universe eventually.

In Mini Block Craft you'll find the typical control system found in games of this kind. All you have to do is touch the directional joystick to move your character in any direction. Likewise, at the bottom of the screen, you'll find the types of cubes that you can add as you wish. This way, you'll gradually be able to make and unmake each construction until it's exactly how you want it.

In Mini Block Craft you'll also find a fun survival mode where your goal is to avoid getting intercepted by enemies. Here, you'll find some animals and other creatures that will try to hunt you down as you move around the map. You'll need to throw elements at your enemies to reduce their life and make sure you remain standing until the end of the game.
