Sincebuying the Pro license, CCleaner Software Updater says that I am offline whenever I run it, even though I am online. Machine is Windows 11, all other functions appear to work properly although the registry cleaner often confirms that a fix has been made, running it again after a restart shows the same issues. What am I missing?

But if you are seeing this constantly over a number of days then it's an indication that something is blocking your connection to the server(s).

That's usually your Antivirus or Firewall settings doing the blocking.

Those two are different servers and sometimes it can connect to one but not the other, which shows if it's a particular server/connection having a problem.

If both are unavailable than that's an indication that the connections are being blocked, probably by your AV or firewall settings.

It is not recommended, either by Piriform/CCleaner or by Microsoft themselves, to regularly run the Registry Cleaner on Windows 10 & 11.

Their registry entries change too often.

As you have noted certain needed registry entries will be recreated by Windows if/when cleared.

The 'Toast Notifier' entry "SpeechRuntime.exe" is the one that gets asked about the most:

I have ccleaner professional and every time I run healthcheck it says, "it looks like you're offline." Because of this the "speed" and the "security" functions say unavailable when offline. Internet access is definitely available. How do I correct this?

I have the same problem and have reported it but they seem to be very busy and so as yet, not yet received a fix. I was asked to check that other parts were working and that I had the up to date copy. I assume 5.63.7540 is as they say, the latest and greatest. I have tried closing Super anti spyware, Malwarebytes, Windows Defender and Avast, but still get the same result. Please let me know if anyone comes up with a fix, it would be great to speed up my computer.

It's not that you are offline, but rather that the server could not be contacted (or timed out).

They have promised to change the message wording.

But if the server can't be reached, for whatever reason, then it's not something that can be changed in CCleaner itself because it's an internet connection problem.

For further Information:

The 'Speed' function checks for, and clears, any unnecessary items that start automatically when you turn on your computer.

You can check those yourself in Custom Clean>Tools>Startup - Of course you then need to know which you want/need and which you don't.

That's why Health Check wants to connect to the server for that function, to check what is starting on your machine against a list of needed/unneeded items.

The 'Security' function checks that (some not all of) your installed apps are up to date.

Again you can do that for yourself by using Custom Clean>Tools>Software Updater.

(But if the server is not contactable than that will still fail to connect).

If you find that Health Check cannot connect to the server but that the Custom Clean Software Updater can connect then the issue is probably your firewall settings as said above.

If neither Health Check or Software Updater can connect to the server then it's an internet connection problem.

I'm not sure if this is still an issue for anybody but I was having the same problem for whatever the reasons that were mentioned. So I figured I'd run it with admin compatibility mode checked and suddenly when ccleaner opened up, I was no longer offline. This may help or just be a waste, any who, cheers!

CCleaner was connecting to the server but if it found nothing needed to be updated then it was showning the wrong message.

It's been corrected in v5.65 which will be why you are not seeing it anymore.

PS. As a different issue to note - Many programmes (not just CCleaner) are having server connection issues at the moment, the internet is under strain from everyone using it from home during the current C-19 crisis.

And Microsoft are doing some scheduled maintanance/modification of server software which is affecting many servers, unfortunate timing.

I've allowed CCleaner to SPECIFICALLY get through both my AV and my firewall, but I still get that error every single time, it's annoying the BLEEEEEP out of me. It most especially annoys me when this thread says that the problem was solved in ver. 5.65 yet as I put above I have ver. 5.75.8238 which I (as a programmer) would expect it to be a newer version than ver. 5.65.

Any ideas here? I tried disabling my AV and Firewall, and added healthcheck.ccleaner.com as specifically allowed on my Router firewall. It seems like it is being blocked, so it would be really helpful to know exactly what endpoints ccleaner is trying to reach out to.

1st, Disable "Advanced Security" in my Eero router firewall. This is not my favorite, as I don't like disabling security to make a product work. Noted the domain names/IP addresses that ccleaner64 communicates with, but they seem to be connecting to a range, or at lease a few different remote endpoints. Having the list of domains to whitelist, this would be better.

We often tend to concentrate on what the AV/firewall on the computer is doing, sometimes overlooking the fact that there may be (probably is) a seperate second layer of protection/filtering on the router.

From the investigations so far, the current issue seems likely to be specific to a certain piece of software that needs to be updated, but for which we may have broken update information from the publisher. We are trawling through the list looking for potential culprits, but if anyone experiencing this issue current can go to Tools > Software Updater and provide the list of "Programs to Update" and the list of "Up-to-date Programs" this may help us narrow things down faster.

Hi, I have been searching around the internet for advice with this issue and I have seen this thread: =35239 but I wanted to make another thread to bring up this problem again and I wasn't sure whether I should use an old pre-existing one or not.

My friend is having an issue with his macbook pro right now after using ccleaner to clear his free space (he used the 7 wipe option I think it was, if that matters). What it did was was the consensus of the other thread, that it filled up his harddrive so that no space was left and now he cannot download anything right now.

I was wondering if anyone has some way to either automatically delete this giant junk file/folder (like using the disk utility or ccleaner again-spooked it could compound the problem though), knows how I can find it manually without using an external program since he can't download anything nor has a way of getting the program onto a flashdrive from another computer at the moment, or knows some common locations where the file/folder is located and what names it will have.

On Windows we'd say like SuperFast's post above to just delete that/those huge files in the root of the drive, and/or to once again run Wipe Free Space and this time be patient and let it finish and it should remove all those files.

Thanks again for the posts everyone. It's unfortunate that there's no mac users around who know where such a file is at when they are running ccleaner or disk utility. I'll just have to keep trying different methods in the mean time

It's a reoccurring issue with people posting about it if Wipe Free Space was cancelled, which I suppose would kind of be common with huge capacity hard disks and people not knowing how long it was going to take before enabling Wipe Free Space. Would be nice if CCleaner could target those files when ran again to automatically remove them.

One thing for sure to pass along to your friend is that Wipe Free Space doesn't really need to be used, think of it more like being there if the computer was going to be sold which would make a very valid reason to use it to remove already deleted private data.

I may be missing the point here, but isn't the answer, or at least a clue, in 'I had this issue and found the "rouge" temporary file in the trash.' in the linked Piriform thread, and also in Hazel's link?

Maybe I'm not understanding, but I just ran "Erase Free Space" using the 7-pass erase. It took about 11 hours, and I do not find that any additional space was taken up as a result. If I understand some ofthe above postings, are some people finding that using this feature of the CCleaner results in additonal space being filled on their drive?

CCleaner for Mac runs the OS.X built in mechanism, and sadly, unless things have changed very recently, this doesn't clean up after itself so if it's interrupted or doesn't complete for any reason, the temp file is left behind, and apparently deposited in trash.

After 2 WEEKS i kill CCleaner and hope i can cleanup some files with terminal....but there are now files. But my drobo disc is now full....cool, i have more then 1,5 lost on my drobo....and the only chance is to format?? Is this possible?

I started running CC Erase Free Space on my Mac three days ago now... I expected several hours, but not several days!? It does not show any progress and says I cannot close it down until it has finished.... I don't want to keep my Mac on for this long and want to know how far along the process it is. I cannot force quit on the application so looks like I will have to restart my computer..? I am worried that if I force it to shut down I won't be able to find this temporary folder and my Mac will be rammed, or will loose some data. Can any one suggest anything, or do I just have to risk it for a biscuit??
