Dear
Can some one give me reference material which explain details of wind load calculation and application.
particularly for local coefficent application.

Pz- design wind pressure at height
Pa- design wind pressure. As per code I understand that only difference between Pz & Pa is of height. (IS 875 III-cla. 5.4 & cla. 6.2.1 )
Is there is any other view behind Pa ?

Regards
Kunal Jain

Dear Mr. Kunal,

You may refer my book Design of Steel Structures, Oxford University Press, Chapter 3,pp.131-266, in which I have given worked examples for wind load calculation, based on the current code as well as the draft code( See; Bhandari,N.M., Krishna, P., Kumar,K., and Gupta,A., An Explanatory Hand book on IS: 875 (Part 3) Wind Loads on Buildings and Structures, www.nicee.org/IITK - GSDMA/W06.pdf, 116 pp. Dec.2004. ). You could also see the IS handbook as suggested by one SEFIan.

Best wishes
Subramanian

Dear Kunal:

An explanatory handbook (with commentary and solved examples) on the
IS875 Part III is available at the website of NICEE (National
Information Centre of Earthquake Engg, IIT Kanpur).
Pl go to \\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\"IITK-GSDMA Project on Codes\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\" and you will see two documents:

a) one document will be as per existing IS875, and
b) another document will be as per proposal made by Prof Prem Krishna
and his colleagues at IIT Roorkee for revision to IS875.

You will need to see the first one, of course. Best regards,

Sudhir K Jain
IIT Kanpur

Dear kunal,

For wind load calculation references as per IS875-PART3,you can refer SP60-which is the explanatory handbook for the windload calculations and also refer the IIT-roorkee material on wind load calculations which is availble through downloading from the net. For your ready reference i am sending you the attached file.

Dear All,
Thanks for your valuable guidence.
I wish I got your guidence in future.

Sir,
I already read
www.nicee.org/IITK - GSDMA/W06.pdf
as per this document on page 40
there is Pd=pz x Kd x Ka
and it is noted that it is as per IS 875 pt.3 Sec.6.1.1

I think this W06 file it not updated with latest code
Now I got W07 file, thanks for that.
