[SEFI] Machine Foundations

Sir/madam,

This is regarding modeling of machine foundations. The machine foundation i am modeling is for ID fan which consists of deck supported on springs which are connected to the substructure. I am adding the mass of the machine at its bolting points on the deck and also giving the unbalanced forces(obviously machine cannot be modeled). do we need to give the mass moment of inertia of the machine also as an input for the analysis of vibrations(Rocking mode)??

experts in this field please share your comments and suggestions...

You should include mass moment of inertia also.
your statement that (obviously machine cannot be modeled) is not correct.
It had to be modelled in some cases to resolve disputes - whether machine or structure is the villain
