Hello all,

We are trying to develop a structural application software by using ETABS output files as the input to our product. Can anybody kindly let us know how and where we can get documentation on the format of these files?

Thanks and regards

JS

Dear Mr. JS,

Are u trying to build a design software where you are inputing the analysis result of ETABS for designing structural elements like beams, columns, footings, etc ?. The previous company where I was working was using such a software. In that software I have noticed that they were inputing the parameters from - New Microsoft Office Access Application ( .mdb file extension). In this file, they were having separate tables for nodal connectivity, element numbers, various kinds of loads, member properties, etc and the software directly reads them for designing the member. But I am not sure whether ETABS itself was giving the output in .mbd format or the software was converting it.

Regards,

Hello JS,
Any Drawing File in Etabs will always be saved as edb file,In flie menu in Etabs after analysis you can excess the Input output text files. Also if your structure is an RCC structure you can after performing the concrete design, you can exces design results.
Another case In etabs is critical design combination,Depending on the version of Etabs you have number of options, recenct version 9 we were using at 25 built in combinations,by expirience you can define appropriate combination in addition to these. Now Etabs gives all outputs and Design results pertaining to each individual combination,What is the aim or intention of your design application,If it is to arrive upon the most critical combination and design outputs pertaining to these then the above data can be of help to You.
