Indore Hospital inauguration and the year 2020

Dear SEF-SoCal Visionaries,

Very excited about the inauguration of our Indore Hospital, our tenth.   I am leaving for India on Wednesday January 22nd, returning Feb 7th.  The inauguration is on the 30th of this month and the invitation is attached.  On the 31st we are meeting people from Akhand Jyoti, MGM (Chhattisgarh), KKM (Mathura) and Trilochan Nethralaya of Orissa at Indore.  On the 1st of Feb we are meeting Sri Sai Lions Nethralaya and Bhoomika at Indore.   Sundar and I are proceeding to West Bengal and meeting with Netaji Eye Hospital.  (Indore-Calcutta-Asansol).  Then to Coimbatore for our Chairman's 80th birthday celebrations.

Anjuben and Subbu visited Akhand Jyoti Eye Hospital in Bihar last week.   Venkat Garu will be visiting two new providers - ICare in Noida and KKM in Mathura.  Very exciting indeed.   We need all these for "One million surgeries annually by 2030" .  I request each and every one of you to embrace this vision, have firm faith in this Vision and do your best to make it happen.  We owe this much to our brothers and sisters and to our Dear India.

We worked very hard last year and may be lucky to almost reach $6M in revenue.  Books are not closed yet and will know more hopefully in a couple of weeks.

2020:

1.  Need around $500K by beginning May to complete our commitment of $3.5M for Mumbai.  We will just extend the target date of the Mumbai campaign from December 31, 2019 to April 30, 2019 and set the goal to $1M.  We can do it.  Mumbai inauguration is slated for end May or beginning June.

2.  We are close to $1M for Bihar.  Total budget is $6M and we are committing to $3.5M.  Construction can start when we have 70% of the funds - Approx. $4M.   If we can raise another $2M say by October this year and Akhand Jyoti can raise a $1M by then, we can start the construction.   I think we must.   Bihar is the land of Buddha, Mahaveer, Guru Gobind Singh, 20 Tirthankaras, Nalanda Univeristy etc., and we must convince existing and new donors to become a Founding donor, at the minimum.  Got some traction from BANA and BAJANA (thanks to the Houston Team) and we must leave no stones unturned to make it happen.   Can we set a Goal of $3M for Bihar and extend the target date to October 1, 2020?  Can you do it?  Are you confident?  Do you have it in you to do it?  If you think we cannot, please call me at 408-425-1268.  -

3.  Sundar mentioned that one more project like Akhand Jyoti is possible in India.

4.  Guntur expansion plan is possible and that can become an exciting project and we will have great success there due to our solid relations with BATA, TANA etc.,

5.  We need to raise a minimum of $3M for surgeries.

Overall, we must try our best to get to $7M this year and let us crank up the machine from now itself and make sure we get there.  We will soon plan the 2020 budget and share it with you all.

Hyderabad construction should start in the next few weeks and complete in 2021.

Events are still the best way for SEF to keep the SEF Jyoti alive, engage the volunteers, donors and raise awareness.  I request all teams all over the USA to do some events, does not matter if it is big or small - Walkathon, Holi, Dandia, Hackathon ...  anything will do.

We missed it last year but we will do an All volunteer meeting this year.  Rajeev and Asia will help with this.
