Dear SoCal-Visionaries,

We thought Bihar would be our toughest project but things have started happening and with help from all of you we can indeed start the construction of this 300 bed hospital in Bihar, the most needy state of India.

Let us make use of this awesome matching fund opportunity.   Please pass on the below link to all your friends all over the country and/or create your own campaign (whatever your comfort level is).

Go! SEF-AJEH! Go!

Thanks,

Great news folks!!!

As you all know, my IIT Madras classmate,  Yeturu Ahalad, has already donated $750,000 to SEF. Today he called and said his company is doing well, and wants to share his happiness with Sankara- and is donating $350,000 to SEF. Just by himself, he has now donated over 1 Million dollars. He is a very unassuming guy- does not want anything in return, including his name ( typical Sankara family member :-)). However, when Murali asked him if it can be used for Bihar and if his name can be mentioned, and if it can be used as Matching funds for the Bihar Campaign- his answer was "Anything that helps the cause- I don't need any acknowledgement or fame- but if it helps the cause to raise more funds- please go ahead".

He heard about SEF when IIT Madras recognized SEF (by giving me a distinguished Alumni award for SEF in 2011)- and heard about it personally from me when I shared the SEF story in one of the IITM get togethers a few years back. Since then he was quietly waiting for an opportunity to do something- and did it a couple of years back with $500,000, followed it up the following year with another $250,000. He said that the first year itself he wanted to donate $750K to charities, and wanted to split it between SEF and something else. When he donated $500K, he only knew me- and SEF through me. Then he met others and talked to Murali, the board and other SEF volunteers- and was completely taken aback by the SEF family- he appreciated the humility, the honesty and the dedication of SEF. He came back next year with the $250K with the statement that he could not find anyone else as deserving as SEF, so he decided to donate the rest of the funds he had kept aside also to SEF.

Now, this year- he felt everyone is going through difficulties and he was doing well- so he wanted to share his good fortune with SEF- what a guy!! IMHO, this is Sankara- this is the true SANKARA value. Nothing else matters.

thanks a lot,

Subbu/Sridhar
