Hi everyone i used timer function to analysed a songs sample of a bird species. The audio files were recorded at a 48kHz/24bit sample rate in WAV format to achieve high sound quality, we also set an amplitude threshold of 15%.
The reviewer back to me:

"the authors should manually evaluate the accuracy of the method since the variability of the background noise could affect the measurements"

how can i reply ?

thanks in advance

Hello Sauro,
Yes it does make sense. Any automatic treatment should be first controlled with an expert annotation / measurement.
You should then substantial subsample of your dataset, do the measurement manually on this subsamble and compare with timer() output.
