Unable to delete data file

Hi,

I installed SEEK 1.8.1 recently on our Linux machine to explore the features of SEEK. I found that I am not able to delete data file. When selecting Administration -> Delete Data File, I am getting the following error.

503

The service you are trying to use is currently unavailable.

The search service is currently down. We have been notified and the issue will be fixed as soon as possible.

Please try again later.

The production.log says the following

Hello

The errors suggest that if Solr is not running then deletion of an asset will fail. Can you try deleting something else, e.g. a presentation, to see if you get the same error? Is it only that data file that it fails on?

Thanks for the reply. Yes, I got the same problem when deleting a presentation. So Solr is not running.

$ sudo /etc/init.d/solr-seek start

Starting Sunspot

Successfully started Solr ...

$ cat /srv/rails/seek/solr/pids/production/sunspot-solr-production.pid

20367

$ ps aux | grep 20367

It says the Solr is started and the pid was created. But ps aux | grep 20367 does not return anything. So there must be something wrong with starting Solr even if it says started. How do I debug this further?

Can you try searching for an asset? This is just to check what is
happening with solr

I don't think Solr is running even though "sudo /etc/init.d/solr-seek start" says it is started successfully.
