Subject: Inclusive Archaeology Projects - online mentoring course
To:

Dear IRIS friends,

Inherit is involved in a new initiative which is providing people with *free* online mentoring in developing inclusive archaeology projects.

This opportunity is open to anyone involved in heritage or archaeology who wants to engage with more diverse communities and groups, but who lacks the experience or confidence to take the first steps. Further details are provided in the advert below.

We welcome applications both from the UK and from other countries (a good level of spoken and written English will be required). I would be grateful if you would circulate the details to any colleagues, students and collaborators (e.g. community or grassroots heritage organisations) who might be interested.

Thank you!

Chris

Developing Inclusive Archaeology Projects - free mentoring opportunity

Are you interested in attracting new and more diverse audiences to your archaeology or heritage project/organisation?  Have you ever had an idea for an inclusive engagement project but not had the time, ability or confidence to plan it properly?  Then this new programme might be for you…

Wessex Archaeology, York Archaeology and MoLA (Museum of London Archaeology) have joined forces to offer an 8-part online mentoring scheme starting in October 2022.  Our three-month digital programme is for anyone involved in archaeology or heritage who wants to work with new audiences but isn’t sure where to start.

Our mentors will take you, step-by-step, through the project-development process, helping you to transform your engagement project from an initial idea to a fully-fledged, grant-ready proposal.

To find out more about this exciting new initiative and the application process, please visit www.yorkarchaeologicaltrust.co.uk/aan

The deadline for applications is midnight (UTC+1) on Sunday the 16th of October.

This scheme is part of the Archaeological Audience Network (AAN), a strategic collaboration between some of the largest and most innovative archaeological organisations in the UK.  Funded by the Department for Digital, Culture, Media and Sport (DCMS) and the National Lottery Heritage Fund’s Digital Skills for Heritage Initiative, the AAN is building a community of practice to aggregate, learn from and improve how we use audience data to achieve more meaningful impacts.

To learn more about the AAN and hear about forthcoming events and other pilot projects, sign up to our mailing list at: https://www.mola.org.uk/aan or join the conversation via #ArchaeoAN on Twitter and Facebook.
