to SEDSAT2 (Bath)
Hello Friends,
I am Kunal Sharma from Rajasthan (India).I have recently joined SEDSAT-
II Ground Station Team.
Here i have given brief introduction of GENSO.
Problem : Satellite in Low Earth Orbit (LEO) is above the horizon
only for 30 minutes approx. So we have only 30 minutes to communicate
with our satellite in a day.For rest of the time we don't have any
contact with our satellite.
Solution: The solution is GENSO.It is a software standard which
allows each ground station in the network to communicate with non-
local satellite and share data between satellite controllers via
internet.Through GENSO it is possible to contact with our satellite
anytime in 24 hours theoritically.
GENSO handles two different types of satellite passes: active and
passive.
Passive pass (or Booking ): It involve only the downlink of telemetry
(RX) and can be scheduled autonomously
by any ground station.
Active pass : involves both uplinking and
donwlinking but it has to be requested by mission controls and
negotiated between mission controls and ground stations.
Data received from satellite is stored locally by a ground station and
it is forwarded to intended mission control on request.i.e on behalf
of our ground station , some other ground station will download the
data and send it to mission control on request.
Scheduling of remote uplink sessions via trusted ground stations is
also possible.
I will post some more details of GENSO as soon as i will get reply
from GENSO team for my queries..
