Thanks to those who joined the great discussion during the COMBINE breakout on SED2! SED2 is envisioned as a new standard based on modularity and composition — it goes beyond SED-ML by supporting different modules with standardized interfaces that can be wired together into workflows. Our goal is to build a more flexible and extensible framework for describing simulation experiments, while keeping it as user-friendly as possible to add new modules, wire them together, and execute workflows.
The conversation went well, and we decided to establish a working group to advance a controlled vocabulary and define a few minimal use cases. We plan to meet every other week, working toward a fully functional prototype by HARMONY 2026.
I’m reaching out to gauge interest and make sure we have everyone that would like to be involved before scheduling our first meeting. If you are receiving this through a mailing list or otherwise forwarded, please let me know if you’d like to participate. If you are emailed directly and don’t want to participate, please let me know that as well. Also, please suggest others who should be included, and I will add them in the follow up emails.
Best,
Eran
