Hi Net,

Unfortunately, that's not something we can support right now. Is
there some reason you can't use Ubuntu?

Thanks,
Doug

Hi Ryan,

That issue appears to be for Ubuntu 11.10. I don't see any mention of
Ubuntu 12.04.

Thanks,
Doug

Have you submitted an issue to Ubuntu so that they can fix it?

Thanks,
Doug

Please submit a bug to Ubuntu to get some eyes on this issue.

Thanks,
Doug

Hello Doug,

My University also is a RHEL 6.0 environment.

I see there are some issues with SELinux and Ruby installations.

Sorry, Security Onion is currently only supported on Ubuntu 12.04 and its variants, such as Xubuntu (which the official ISO is built on). Your mileage may (will) vary on other plarforms.

Hey, I know that message! :-) We run a lot of the same tools as SO
on CentOS 6.x and have no problems. I read this group and use SO at
home to compare some of the differences. If there are questions about
some of the tools or deployment of them, hit me up off list, or in
another forum. Just to keep this list SO related.

Hey, Jeremy -- HOW do I contact you off-list to talk about SO tools in RHEL ? The "Respond privately" option does not appear to be available.

Ok, guys. I'm all into these thngs on CentOS 7.

I will be working on a CentOS 7 implementation of the packages managed by security onion.

First things first; I need to get a list of software currently on SO and cross-check with Fedora's repos.

Later on, analyze licencing and see if they fit in Fedora and, lastly, package everything for Fedora with EPEL compatibility.

If anyone is interested in helping, let me know. I'll see if a git repo is relevant; for the kickstarts.

Why? Well, I'm biased; what can I say? ;)
