Our ISO image is larger than a CD. Did you mean DVD instead of CD?

You verified the ISO checksum before burning the DVD, but did you also
verify the DVD itself?

I was able to duplicate this issue by forcing VMware's firmware to
"efi" in the .vmx file:

I got the following error:
"The 'grub-efi-amd64-signed' package failed to install into target"

I've created Issue 913 to build a new ISO image that corrects this:
