SecureSocial 3.0-M4 with Play 2.4.6 JAVA - anyone have a working demo or template?

I am java programmer with moderate play framework knowledge, looking to use SecureSocial with play 2.4.6 or later in java. 

I've been through ws.securesocial.com site guide and tried the GitHub java demo (doesn't compile OOTB), plus a few others on GitHub which are now too old (also don't compile). 

I've done a fairly extensive search to see if I could find a working installation that I could then adapt to a Play java web app using Jongo ORM for MongoDB, but no luck so far.

Can anyone assist?
