All,

We need to have a serious discussion about what the future of this game should be. Personally I feel that there are several options:

1. Continue on with the current game, given that some one is willing to run the it, such as it is.

2. With the current attendance, play as a table top game.

3. Start a troop game. BNS rules, XP floor, ect.

4. Start a new Underground Theater Game. (Needs 10 players)

5. Call it a day. (Not my personal favorite.)

Rob,

1. Who’s willing to run it at present?

2. That won’t work for the organization.

3. That has nothing to do with this game. :)  Unless you mean to convert it to a Troupe game.

4. Underground Theater is a Camarilla Fan Club affiliate.  Why not play in the MES game?

5. It happens.

You also forgot about the option to have a hiatus, if needed.  That’s happened in the past with Secundus.

*shrugs*

Bryan,

That's why I wanted to get a discussion going. People keep showing up, but not enough to effectively have a LARP, so let's get a discussion going. I know I don't see all of the options, and you bring up valid points. I would like to see where every one stands, and have something for those few people who continue to show up.

All of your points are dead on, I just didn't want to get too far in to them at an early point in the conversation. I feelt, when I originally wrote the message, that we could dig further in to them once we learned where every one stood.

6. Figure out why attendance has completely tanked, and fix it.

So we're clear, we HAVE a HST who's entirely willing to show up and run a game if enough players show up to make that possible. As best I can tell, John just isn't interested in wasting his time showing up to run a game for which the players simply do not materialize.

Seems to me that before we can decide what to do with the game, we need to figure out why attendance is in the toilet, if we think it's a permanent or temporary issue, and if we think it's a resolvable issue in the short and long term.

Not long ago at all, Secundus was consistently getting enough attendance to have a quite robust and entertaining game. Now it's not. Why are players who used to show up to play not doing so anymore? Why aren't we getting any new players? I know that 90% of the time when you ask someone why they stopped showing up to a particular game, they say 'RL issues', this of course often isn't really a resolvable issue. But I also know that that's usually a cop-out that most often actually means "The game isn't enough fun for me to make the effort to show up anymore." and slightly less often means "I'm butt-hurt about something at game, but don't want to talk about it." These ARE often resolvable issues, if an effort made to dig them out and address them.

Personally, I'm loathe to give up on a game that was providing me with good fun as recently as a few months ago. I'd like to at least TRY to figure out WTF is going on with attendance, and fix it if we can.

I know for myself I haven't been able to attend because of my friend/roommate went through Lukemia, then he passed away. So I have been supporting his wife, my friend, through this tough time. She also just lost her cousin to the same Leukemia. So it had been a hard time getting to events. This will hopefully change soon.

Rob and I talked. While we have gotten some response, most of it has been on the lines of "Real life is keeping me from game".

So, we are going to table Game for the next 2 months. Once it is cooler and liveable outside again, we will put it out there and see how people are doing.
