I have created a question bank in Canvas and would like to print the Bank--not just quizzes--for easier proofing and editing so that correct answers and other information are included. I do not have access to Respondus or Adobe Acrobat. I am willing to copy/paste, then fight the formatting in Word, but I do not want to have to do so one question at a time. I have not been able to find anything in all of my searching that will help me, so I'm hoping someone in the Community can provide an answer. Thank you!
Thank you so very much for your response! However, I have read many of the hints, which all seem to deal with printing a QUIZ, but what I want to do is print the actual QUESTION BANK I created in Canvas to include all correct answers and notations. Going forward, I suppose I'll write everything up in Word first, but I am concerned that I will end up having to rekey everything in Canvas?
So silly. I can not print an exam with the correct answer marked, totally messed up. So how to register? Shall I make 15 printscreens and put it in a document?
I have searched for this here, and all the replies are deleted. When I choose to save the document as pdf iwht background, a very small part of the background is visible, in some cases the marking of correct answer cant be seen.
After completing a quiz with question banks, I noticed an error in one of the answers . . . actually a student did. When I go back to the question bank and change the answer, it does not regrade the quiz. How can I make this happen. PS I have 250 students and really don't want to have to go into speed grader for every kid and regrade manually. Please tell me there is a way to do this.
Since it is "new" and I figure the old way of doing things would eventually go away, I thought I'd try to embrace the "New Quiz" style. I made the exam and went for it.... Never mind the fact that I have to "Bank" questions on a quiz if I want the program to select one or two out of several. (You could just put them all in a block in the old quiz program... now I'm being forced to put them all into "banks".. if every time I need to pick X out of Y choices I need a new "bank" I'm going to have 100+ banks flying around. It doesn't look to me that the current way of organizing these "banks" is up to the challenge of having that many different ones...
I've had about 50+ students take the exam. It's a formula question so going through and grading by hand is nigh impossible. (I need to go in for all 50 students and compute the right answer each time...)
In these remote times when face-to-face instructors and students alike are not as comfortable online as others. This is a HUGE headache. I wish Canvas would seriously take a look and update this issue! Regrading easily is necessary!
I've also learned this lesson the hard way. Most of the time when I've tried something new or a new feature in Canvas, this has resulted in unforeseen consequences that require so much manual backtracking. This has been an incredible time-suck. I have stopped trying anything new in Canvas for fear of having to waste time correcting issues. This platform (Canvas) has stifled my creativity as an instructor. Canvas is THE WORST!
I agree -- Canvas only supports what canvas wants and if you have a better idea or just want to do something slightly different it's an enormous pain, every time. Small mistakes take forever to correct. They are incredibly arrogant about assuming their way is the best or only way to teach, and it is a definite case of technology homogenizing diverse approaches. Bugs me bad.
When I found this page I was pleasantly surprised to find that this question had a solution as, in my experience, it is rare to find answers to canvas problems on this site. So, I wasn't really surprised to find that the solution was that canvas does not support this. Disappointed, yes. Surprised, no.
Dear canvas developers can you PLEASE implement a proper quiz regrading system. The current quiz system in canvas is so poorly thought out that it is risky to use for grading large classes because there is a large risk that a llot of time will be wasted if something goes even sligthly wrong. On-line quizze systems are supposed to save time but every time I use the feature-poor interfaces provided by canvas I end up regretting it because I need to to work around poor design choices and so end up with a time deficit.
On top of this, I find the canvas "community" pages to be a source of constant frustion because time and time again I see users asking canvas to add features, or to fix existing bugs, and then...nothing happens. There is no response from the canvas development team. The bugs are not fixed. The essentially features that are missing are still not implemented...and, at the same time, my university is paying canvas an absolute fortune for the "pleasure" of using this system.
I'm not exactly sure what you mean by this...as you'll find that many Community members do answer questions for other Canvas users here on this site. Any topic that has the green check-mark icon next to it has a "solution". Canvas Question Forum - Instructure Community
Re: your request to implement a proper quiz regrading system... I think it would be best for you to consider submitting this as a Feature Idea here in the Community. That way, others here in the Community have a chance to evaluate it to see if it would be something they would also like to see implemented by Instructure (the folks that make Canvas). Here are some Guides to get you started:
As a fellow Canvas end-user, I understand the frustration, Andrew. I've been there myself...where I've submitted a Feature Idea here in the Community that I think would benefit many people...but then it seems to go un-noticed for weeks, months, and sometimes years. But, at the same time, I've also submitted Feature Ideas that have been implemented in Canvas...some of which I didn't think would stand a chance of getting implemented. In fact, at the time, there wasn't much Community interest (that I could tell, anyway) in my idea, but yet it was still implemented. So, I'm not exactly sure why my idea was considered or if there was other feedback they had received (not posted here in the Community) from Canvas users. The statement "bugs are not fixed" is not accurate. There is a Known Issues - Instructure Community page that you can visit to see what things are currently known issues and what has been fixed.
All this being said, I would encourage you to continue participating in conversations here in the Community. And, if you see Feature Ideas that people have suggested that are in line with something you'd also like to see implemented by Instructure, then consider giving those ideas a star rating (as described in the Feature Idea links above) and also providing a comment as to why that particular request would also be important to you. Instructure likes to hear from us, and providing real-world examples is of great help...so they can consider all the different scenarios that might come up.

Really? Can you give a couple of examples of features you suggested and they've added? I actually know of no features that I have suggested (most I'm pretty darn sure would benefit many people) that have been implemented....
We just had a faculty training session yesterday where some people found out that classic Quizzes are going away. Many were dumbfounded that such a thing would happen when many features have been "lost" or failed to be implemented in the new version... (no partial credit for matching? really?)
All I can deduce is that they need to spend more on programmers and possibly less on PR. That or some initial decisions on programming structure/implementation were poorly chosen, explaining the difficulty in implementing any new features.
Sure thing. I had to do some digging to find some of the Feature Ideas I've submitted in the past...it's not as easy to find things that I've suggested here in the current Community platform as it was in the old Community platform. So, here are a handful of things that have been marked as "Completed" by Instructure that I've suggested in the past years. Again, some of these seem small...and I didn't really expect them to be implemented. But, there must have been other research (besides just votes/star ratings) that factored into their decisions to move forward with these (see What is the feature development process for Instructure products? for their other sources of feedback/research):
There are a few more of mine among the 600+ that are listed on this particular page: Idea Conversations - Instructure Community But, you can take a look at the "Idea Statuses" box on the right side of that page and click on any of the status labels to see a wide variety of Feature Ideas and where they may be at within the development process.
