I  plan  to attend  the LUG meeting at Sector67 Thursday. But I'm blind
and I'll  have to take  paratransit. I  can  schedule a ride to  arrive
around  7 PM but what time should I schedule my trip  home? How long do
you expect the meeting to be?

Cory (the organizer) says:

"We're shooting for one hour of presentation up front and about an hour for socializing. I would suggest scheduling pickup no later than 9. I intend on staying for at least the first two hours regardless."

You're welcome to hang around during/after the Linux meet up until 10pm regardless of how long the meeting goes if that makes planning transit easier.

Thank you,

Chris

I built a hardware speech synthesizer for the Linux command line out of a Raspberry Pi. A hardware speech synth is a gadget a blind systems engineer might use to get speech on a down server. They are getting harder and harder to find since everybody uses software speech. But software speech probably won't work on a down server. So I built a speech synth myself. I can bring it along if there's a show&tell period after the meeting.

By all means, bring things to share. If you've got enough source material to turn it into a talk/presentation later on, we can do that too. It's early days, so there's plenty of room to decide how we collectively want to conduct these meetups. I'm new to the LUG scene myself, but I envision the second hour being used for general socializing, computer help, sharing project progress, getting help with projects, things of that nature. And those are just suggestions, we're not limited to those activities either.
