Hi all,
It's me, Cory. The Linux guy who organized that hosted that "end of 10" install event. To those who attended or volunteered, thank you! I got in touch with a few like-minded people afterwards that were interested in getting a new
Linux User Group started here in Madison, and that's exactly what we're going to do.
Every third Thursday starting January 15th, we'll meet at Sector67 from 7 PM to 9 PM or so. Anyone is welcome to attend, whether you're new to Linux or you're a command line expert.
For our first meeting, we'll discuss how other LUGs operate and get a sense of what interests us as a group. We will also decide whether or not we want an online space to supplement our in-person meetings and if so what platform. And if you're not sick of talking about open source software by the end we should have some extra time to meet everyone and socialize.
And to clarify, this group isn't intended to be focused around any particular distro(s). In fact, discussion relating to any of the Unixes is fair game as far as I'm concerned.
I'm reusing
MadisonLinux.com for additional info. There's also an
ical link to automatically add the recurring event to your calendar. Let me know if you have any questions!
See you soon,
Cory Sanin
