Howdy,

I'm told I need a new pressure sensor in my dishwasher.   I'm seeing it at $150-350 from various websites I've never heard of.

Recommendations for reliable purveyors of appliance parts?  The part in question is an ASKO dishwasher pressure sensor 700336.

Alternatively, if you have a recommendation for an appliance service person who wont break the bank, let me know.  I'm going to leave town for a few months soon and if I need it fixed while there's a tenant here, I'll need someone I can trust.

Thanks,

John

I had a similar journey earlier this year with GE stove/range parts. The prices and suppliers were all over the place, and even direct from them seemed usurious ($950 for 1 power supply board).

Ultimately, I found a kit of official GE parts that was the whole shebang needed to replace the guts on an induction cooktop… unopened, real GE parts, on eBay for like 1/3rd that.

So maybe look on eBay? You might find the exact right part!

I would recommend the e-Bay route on this part. They have them for ~$50.

I once ordered a replacement door lock for a front loading clothes washer from https://www.repairclinic.com/. It never showed up. So I don't recommend them. The part was pretty generic and I ended up getting it from Amazon.

I repaired my Bosch dishwasher - the detergent dispenser door was broken.

I bought the OEM part of Amazon.

I also repaired a Maytag dishwasher's door spring - OEM from Amazon sold by the Amazon Maytag store.

Both repairs were a success.

The Maytag's heater wasn’t working - so I bought a new heating element.

But it turned out the heater was fine -  so was every other part I tested - including the circuit board etc.

Once I found the service manual - I learnt that the dishwasher’s heater turns off if a fault is detected - and won’t heat until rebooted.

I concluded that a fork fell into the bottom of the dishwasher blocking the water level sensor.

So the dishwasher never got a good water level and then turned off heating.

My point - get the service manual - and make sure it is the pressure sensor.

Markus.

I've ordered more parts than I care to think about for a LG washer, Whirlpool Range and Whirlpool Refrigerator from https://partsdr.com with no issues.  I've found their prices to be on the lower end of the various sites that focus on appliance parts, and they are very clear about their shipping cutoffs and seem to always hit those estimates (helpful when you have a Fridge down a day or two before the weekend).  I usually go with them over E-bay or Amazon when I don't want to be guessing about how genuine a part is, or if the listing has errors, or worry about whether I'll have to fight about a return if something shows up broken / not as advertised (though I've never actually had to go down that path with them).  I've used Amazon in a few situations as well, recently for an ice cube hopper/crusher for the fridge that was a little obscenely expensive on all the dedicated parts sites.  In that case I spent a good amount of time trying to sift through the amazon listings to find actual Whirlpool parts (they all seem to claim they are OEM) and a seller that felt like it had a real presence somewhere.  For me it is a risk vs. reward, I'd probably worry less if it wasn't something in direct contact with something I eat or that couldn't cause too much of a problem if it turned out to be cheaply made and the price difference was enough to justify any potential hassles.  Often having to disassemble these things twice or deal with being without the appliance for another several days isn't worth it to me for the savings I see on Ebay/Amazon.

I replaced a cracked inlet valve on my dishwasher with a part I picked up from

Appliance service of Middleton.

Price was fair and they had it locally in stock.

Your mileage may vary. Good luck!

Hi Dave,

Have you ever ordered parts from McComb's in Lancaster, PS?

I need a clothes washer lid lock strike, switch and assembly.

Thank you,

Charkes,

I’ve used Appliance Service Unlimited and partsdr and considered McComb’s and Highway 61 Appliance Parts. Also about to buy a new electric range element and fridge control board if anyone wants to go in on a purchase and save shipping.
