My talented listmates,

There are a few talented and generous posters on a couple of Facebook pages (not a big Facebook fan generally).

FB doesn't seem to have a Download button.

Imagine a poster has 12 pages of screenshots (very helpful) but absent taking a screenshot of each page and saving them each as a separate file how have others saved that content from FB?

Thank you!

FB doesn't seem to have a Download button.

On a PC, open the first image and look for three dots ("...") beside the poster's name. Select Download from that menu to download the image to the desired folder. Move to the next image and repeat. I don't think the product has a way for the end user to save all of the images at once.

Or if you trust the poster will keep the content up, click the timestamp (e.g. "3 days ago") and bookmark that page in your browser.

On a lot of browsers, if you right click on a part of a webpage that has an image under the pointer, you will get an "Open Image in New Tab" choice... Then it's easy to just download it.

Some websites try and confound that feature with various kinds of bitey corporate subterfuge. For example, you may not be able to get a right-click menu to show up.

You can peek under the hood with the web developer tools that are built into most browsers, although the same bitey traps will try and prevent this too... But, IF you can get the web dev tools to fire up, you will find an overwhelming looking mess of text and tools. Look for a tab called "network" or "sources". In that tab, you should be able to filter out different media types; turn on images (maybe toggle off the other types). Turn OFF the caching toggle (to make sure the browser has to download stuff again) and then look for a nearby "reload" button. If there isn't one, just reload the page.

You should now have a table of only the image assets that the page contains. Find the ones you want, and you should be able to find a "save as" or "open in a new tab" option somewhere. You can leave this panel open as you navigate the sequence of images, and they will stack up in the table.

Sorry I can't be more precise; each browser and OS does this a little differently.

Another option is to download snagit... it allows you to do a scrolling screenshot. It has a 15 day free trial.

Hi Matt,

Thank you for your helpful post.

Which browser do you use mostly?

I'm on W11 and mostly use FF, with Brave as my backup.

I'm trying to figure out if there is a way on Facebook to "gather" "retrieve" all postings by a certain poster.

He shares good screenshot tutorials but I haven't spent a lot of time on Facebook to know how I would proceed on this endeavor?

Thank you!

Charles.

I also prefer FF, but mostly just because I don't want the web to be owned by one company. We did this once already, it sucked.

But any browser should have the "web developer tools" sort of thing. You may have to poke around in the menus or in a right-click.

Good luck
